The film's setting was later officially revealed by Campbell during a Q&A in September, 2020, where he specified that it would be set in a city. Campbell also stated that the film would not take place in a cabin like the previous films. In an interview with Diabolique magazine released on June 23rd, 2020, Bruce Campbell revealed that following a new draft of the script, the film had been re-titled to Evil Dead Rise, and hoped it would be in production by 2021. Campbell revealed that his character of Ash Williams would be absent from the film, and that it's story would be completely stand alone and not connected to the original trilogy, Ash vs Evil Dead, or the 2013 film directed by Fede Alvarez. It would not be until June 8th, 2020 that Bruce Campbell would reveal the writer/director of the film (Lee Cronin) and the film's working title of Evil Dead Now while giving an interview with Empire magazine. The film was initially teased by Sam Raimi while promoting The Grudge in early 2020, stating that himself, Rob Tapert, and Bruce Campbell were working with a "young filmmaker" (refraining from revealing the name) who was writing and directing the next Evil Dead project. Credit to how the Quest 2 handles the game's performance, too: I found it easy to sink in and feel immersed, while action is quick and responsive.Lee Cronin Evil Dead Rise is an upcoming horror film written and directed by Lee Cronin, and will be the fifth film of the Evil Dead franchise overall. The creepy village setting, with its various rooms to explore and boxes to break for treasure, feels naturally adapted to VR. It still stands strong, even if you've never played other Resident Evil games. It's hard to describe: Yes, it feels like an older game and yet, for VR (especially on Oculus Quest 2), this looks a lot better than most games do. The graphics in Resident Evil 4 look really sharp although at times dated. Reaching for a gun or knife and pulling bullets to reload not only makes the experience feel more real, but I also felt I had more control over my circumstances. Much like Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy's Edge, or lots of other first-person VR games, weapons and tools are laid across your body in easy reach, in holsters and over-the-shoulder packs, or via a watch I can glance at to see health and ammo. What's also weird and interesting is how it made me realize I've grown really comfortable with how most VR games are designed.

(I skipped Resident Evil 7 on PSVR.) Thankfully, Resident Evil 4's best features are more about mood, ambiance and storytelling than pure freak-out twitch horror.

The VR-based interface makes it feel, in fact, like it was a game made for VR from the beginning. But Resident Evil 4 feels like the most momentous and it's a pretty surprisingly great adaptation based on my initial time with it. It's an extremely common genre, with Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners, Arizona Sunshine and Lies Beneath already available to jump-scare you while in a headset. This isn't the first horror game in VR, or even the first zombie game. The first Oculus Quest 2-exclusive major holiday game is here and it's a throwback: Resident Evil 4 has been ported over to Facebook's standalone VR headset, with graphics boosts that need the newer Quest 2 hardware to run. Resident Evil 4's graphics look very good for a mobile headset and action is quick.
